The new mirror

A machine now describes your brand to buyers you'll never meet. What it says offers a new window into how your organization is understood, and who gets recommended.

For twenty years, the gap between what an organization is and how it comes across was hard to measure. You inferred it from anecdotes: a sales call that went sideways, a candidate who misunderstood the mission, a partner who described you in words you'd never use.

Now there is an instrument. Buyers ask a model who to hire, and it answers, assembled from everything you've left behind, delivered to people you'll never meet. What it says is the outside experience of your brand, distilled.

That reframes the whole question. The models aren't just another channel to optimize. They're also a mirror. And you don't get a clearer reflection by gaming the system. You start by making what's already true about your organization easier to find and understand. The answer the model is missing is usually already true inside your building. It just isn't where the model looks.

The models aren't just another channel to optimize. They're also a mirror.

Reading that gap, honestly, from the outside, is a leadership question before it is a marketing one.
